ENIGMA VIDEO Started out in video in 1984 making safety induction programmes for AMOCO Oil UK using a Sony U-Matic video recorder and separate single tube camera and editing on a full size U-Matic analogue recorder the size of a small piano. Titles were added using still photographs and Letraset, a primitive but effective graphic transfer system. The U-matic camera/recorder set-up was replaced with the then new JVC Super-VHS system: a 2/3” CCD two piece high-band camcorder and an editing recorder and controller again using the analogue recording system. A Panasonic vision mixer was added for visual effects and an Amiga computer and keyer for superimposing titles and graphics. Digital video as opposed to analogue video is now the standard for all broadcast and industrial/corporate programme making with wide screen (16:9) format and High Definition (HD) gradually taking over from 4:3 and standard definition. We currently use JVC and Panasonic Professional 3 chip DV cameras, shoot on Digital Video (DV) tape in either 4:3 or 16:9 format and offer HD as an option. We have currently on order a new PANASONIC P2 two thirds inch native HD 16:9 camera. Postproduction is based around an Apple MAC PRO dual-core 2.66 Ghz processor computer, which hosts the Media100 hardware/software edit suite. The computer was custom built as a video work-station by Digital Garage Group of Banbury Oxford and has over 4Gb's of RAM and over one terrabyte of hard drive storage for video and over 500 Gb of internal storage. Boris Red, Photoshop, DVD StudioPro, QuickTime Pro, Contribute, Episode and Roxia Toast are installed to provide complete integration between input and output to DVD CDrom or the web. Two 22" monitors and a dual standard 32 inch HDMI enabled LCD output monitor complete the edit set-up. As video recording technology improves and our client’s expectations become more demanding we have had to invest more and more in high end acquisition and post-production equipment.
